The electric vehicle (EV) market is experiencing fluctuations in Slovenia, reflecting both advancements and obstacles in the industry. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) have seen shifting market shares over the past few years—rising from 5.08% in 2022 to 8.79% in 2023, only to drop again to 5.93% in 2024.  

In early 2025, BEVs accounted for 8.62% of newly registered vehicles; however, nearly a third of these were tied to CarSharing companies. This suggests that despite apparent growth, Slovenia’s EV segment faces a downward trend due to infrastructure challenges, costs, and market reluctance. 

The Challenge: Translating for a Transforming Industry

GORR was tasked with translating a range of technical documents—including vehicle manuals and related materials—for multiple electric vehicle brands. This project required not only linguistic precision but also an understanding of the complexities surrounding EV adoption in Slovenia and Croatia.

• Ambiguous Source Texts: Many manuals were not originally written in English but translated from other languages. This required us to decipher unclear phrasing and improve clarity without access to the original text. 

• EV-Specific Terminology: With the EV market still evolving, terminology continues to develop. Our team had to ensure consistency and accuracy in industry-specific terms. 

• Infrastructure and Adoption Barriers: The declining adoption of EVs in Slovenia, attributed to weak charging infrastructure, high costs, and changing government incentives, meant that translations had to address common concerns while maintaining technical accuracy. 

• User-Friendliness: The final translated manuals needed to be easily understandable for end-users who may still be sceptical or unfamiliar with EV technology.
